Transition to new electronic health record will support a more connected experience for patients, families, referring providers and staff.
MINNEAPOLIS & ST. PAUL, Minn.: Children’s Minnesota will go live with Epic, its new electronic health record, on Oct. 3, 2026, across its hospitals, clinics and specialty care sites. This is a major milestone that reflects a more than $175 million investment in modernizing systems and creating a more connected experience for patient families, referring providers and staff.
"Kids and families are at the center of everything we do. Our move to Epic will make it easier for patients and families to navigate their healthcare needs and stay connected with our kid experts," said Emily Chapman, MD, Children’s Minnesota president and CEO. "This transformation is also crucial as we move to the next generation of pediatric care, including precision medicine and new therapies for complex health conditions. I’m grateful to every team member who has helped us take this enormous step forward for the children and families we serve.”
Epic will replace multiple systems, helping consolidate clinical, scheduling, registration, billing and operational workflows into a single platform and reduce data silos, dual entry and fragmented user experiences. For families managing specialty appointments, follow-up care and communication across a child’s care team, the transition is designed to make the experience simpler and more connected.
Benefits to the transition include:
The implementation has been clinically and operationally led, with hundreds of staff participating in work groups, operational summits, training testing and readiness activities to prepare for go-live.
