Former commander of U.S. and NATO security assistance missions for Ukraine brings operational leadership and defense modernization experience

MALVERN, Pa.: #AutonomousSystems--Rajant Corporation today announced the appointment of U.S. Army Lieutenant General Curtis Buzzard (Ret.) to its Board of Directors. Buzzard brings more than 34 years of leadership experience in military operations, international security cooperation, and organizational transformation, strengthening Rajant’s strategic leadership as it advances resilient communications and distributed computing for U.S. and allied defense missions.

Buzzard most recently commanded Security Assistance Group-Ukraine (SAG-U) and NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU), coordinating multinational support for Ukrainian forces. His work with Ukrainian military and industry leaders provided practical insight into the application of autonomous systems, drone warfare, AI-enabled decision-making, and electronic warfare in demanding operational environments.

He previously served as commanding general of the U.S. Army Maneuver Center of Excellence, overseeing military training and leader development while advancing the integration of robotics and autonomous technologies. His career also includes service as Commandant of Cadets at the United States Military Academy, combat commands in Iraq and Afghanistan, and Army Military Aide to the President across two administrations.

“We are excited to welcome General Buzzard to the board,” said Robert J. Schena, CEO of Rajant Corporation. “He brings firsthand knowledge of what U.S. and allied forces need from technology in demanding operational environments, and his judgment will strengthen our board while sharpening our focus on resilient communications and distributed computing for those missions.”

“I’m honored to join Rajant’s Board of Directors,” said General Buzzard. “Rajant’s resilient networking technology is critical to operating in contested environments, and I look forward to supporting its continued innovation and growth across defense and civilian markets.”

Buzzard holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the United States Military Academy, a Master of Public Administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and a Master of Military Science from Marine Corps University. He served as a Military Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He also is a graduate of Malvern Preparatory School in Malvern, Pennsylvania.

As a director, Buzzard will contribute strategic guidance on operational requirements, technology adoption, and international collaboration across Rajant’s defense and commercial markets.
