With over two decades of legal and ethics leadership, veteran GovCon executive joins Ericsson Federal to anchor compliance and strategic growth.
VIENNA, Va.: Ericsson Federal Technologies Group (Ericsson Federal) is proud to welcome Melissa Milstead as Chief Legal Officer. A seasoned legal and compliance executive with more than 20 years of experience advising public and private sector organizations, Milstead will now lead Ericsson Federal’s Legal Affairs and Compliance organization and serve as Corporate Secretary to the Board of Directors.

Milstead has deep expertise in government contracting, corporate compliance, ethics and anti-corruption, internal and government investigations, enterprise risk management, and global compliance program development. Prior to joining Ericsson Federal, Milstead served as Head of Compliance for the Americas at Ericsson, where she led a team responsible for advising business units, leadership, and customers on ethics, anti-corruption, and regulatory compliance matters across North and South America. In that role, she helped strengthen compliance frameworks and foster a culture of integrity across a diverse and complex operating environment.
Before Ericsson, Milstead served as General Counsel for Shimadzu America, acting as the principal legal advisor to the company, its North American affiliates, and its Japanese parent organization. Earlier in her career, she held senior legal leadership positions at McKinsey & Company, where she served as lead legal counsel for the firm's North America Public and Social Sector Practice, led the Global Public Sector legal team, and served as the firm's Global Anti-Corruption Legal Lead.
Throughout her career, Milstead has designed and implemented enterprise-wide compliance programs, governance frameworks, and risk management initiatives that support sustainable business growth while maintaining the highest standards of ethics and accountability. Milstead earned her Juris Doctor from the George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School and her bachelor's degree from the University of New Mexico.
