CARMEL, Ind.: #DataQuality--Clinical Architecture, a leading healthcare data quality and interoperability solution provider, released its 2026 Healthcare Data Quality Report, revealing continued industry concern about the reliability of patient data and its impact on healthcare organizations.
The fourth annual report examines how healthcare professionals perceive the quality of patient data, the impact of poor-quality data on healthcare organizations and the challenges involved in improving data quality. The 2026 survey includes perspectives from providers, academia, public health, value-based care, life sciences and healthcare vendor market segments.
The findings reveal a significant trust gap:
These outcomes have significant implications for interoperability. As healthcare organizations exchange patient information across EHRs, health systems, payers and other organizations, the value of that exchange depends on whether the data can be trusted.
“Over the last four years, our survey participants have consistently told us that the data in their environments is mostly mixed or poor quality,” Charlie Harp, CEO of Clinical Architecture, said. “At the same time, it is getting easier to access data from other organizations, but much of that data still is not trusted or directly usable. Given the impact data quality has on care, cost, and operational efficiency, it is clear why objectively measuring data quality with frameworks like PIQI is so important to the future of healthcare.”
The 2026 Healthcare Data Quality Report includes this year’s findings alongside data from previous years, providing a four-year window of how perceptions of healthcare data quality have evolved.
