Verily Pre will power CIRCLE’s shared database and AI-driven research tools to improve outcomes for critically ill patients

DALLAS: Verily Health Inc., a precision health AI company, today announced it has been selected by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to serve as an Acceleration Platform performer for the agency's Critical Illness Immunological Reprogramming and Control Point Learning Engine (CIRCLE) program. In this role, Verily Health will build and operate the shared program database that CIRCLE's research teams will use to train, validate, and refine tools aimed at giving ICU care teams a real-time window into patients' immune systems.

ARPA-H recently announced the full slate of CIRCLE performers. CIRCLE is a five-year program working to give ICU clinicians real-time visibility into a patient's immune system so they can intervene before organ damage occurs. ARPA-H has set a program-wide goal of reducing average ICU length of stay by 25 percent.

"We're honored that ARPA-H selected Verily Health to build this program's data foundation. It reflects the trust federal researchers are placing in Verily Pre as a platform for complex, multi-institution science, and it's exactly the kind of opportunity that accelerates our vision to build a trusted foundation for healthcare," said Stephen Gillett, Chairman and CEO of Verily Health.

Verily Health's Role in CIRCLE

Verily Health was selected to build and operate the CIRCLE program database. Verily Workbench, part of the Verily Pre Platform, the company's flagship data and AI platform, will serve as the program’s secure database and research environment.

Verily Pre will ingest and harmonize public and private critical-illness datasets alongside data generated by the program's research teams for use in performer model training and validation. Verily Health will also generate data products intended to become resources for the broader critical care research community, giving researchers AI-powered search and discovery tools to explore the dataset rather than writing raw database queries.

This research was, in part, funded by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H).
